Sleeping Well on Summer Mornings

I've been sleeping later, and that is a problem.  Not that I'm minding finally being able to get enough sleep--it's far better than not getting enough.  Now, my schedule has shifted later into the day. I used to routinely get up at 4:30 every day in order to be at my desk by 5:30. Being in California, 5:30 Pacific Time means 8:30 Eastern, and when you work for a nationwide business, that's when all the excitement (so to speak) begins. You snooze, you lose.

Now I happen to work later in the morning, and stay up later in the evening. I generally don't arise until 6:30 or 7:00 a.m. Initially I thought this shift seemed more appealing.

There was one problem, though:  the summer sunlight sneaking in between my closed window blinds at 6:05 a.m.

This, as any of my fellow light-sensitive humans will understand, was waking me up without fail. So figuring out the best way to block out that morning sunlight in order to get that extra hour of sleep suddenly became mission-critical for me.

Yanking a pillow over my head wasn't t the most comfortable solution and it didn't stay put (and not to mention being somewhat suffocating). So it was on to the Great Sleep Mask Investigation.
